Mexico Chiapas Café De Mujeres Arabica

The 212 Chiapas-area women growers who contributed coffee to this lot work just 1.8 hectares of land on average. They are smallholders, but they are united in their effort to eliminate gender inequality and expand economic opportunities for women in Mexico. This isn't just a heart-warming story, this coffee is one of the best Chiapas we have ever tasted!

We began sourcing Chiapas coffees over a year ago when we introduced our Chiapas Magico espresso. The lots tend to be small, so we are always vetting new sources... and sometimes we get a lot that is so impressive we want to feature it as a single source, and this is one!

The varieties contributing to this lot are Typica, Bourbon, Caturra, and Catuai. The coffee cherries were hand-depulped, fermented in small tanks and fully sundried. During dry milling, the lot was further sorted to European Preparation (EP) specifications with a minimum screen size of 15 and above and a maximum of eight defects within 300 grams.

Café de Mujer’s notes include rich cocoa, warm nuttiness, sparkling fresh-fruit acidity. These beans somehow really seem to us to represent the "essence of Mexico" in their gentle fruity and spicey profile. We consider it an exquisite showcase of the effort and talents these women have put into their product.

1 pound bags, Medium Roast, please choose whole bean or ground.
