Lola's Dark Forest Blend
We are roasting this new blend constantly, it's just that good! The call went out from our take-out shop (Lola's) for more variety in Dark Roasts. Dark & Stormy is our mainstay and has been super-popular since we opened, but we have not really had just a straight one-temperature dark roast since Brazil Adrano. As it happens, recently Len designed a new dark roast for a commemorative event and it got rave reviews. So he started with that formula and tweaked it until all our tasters said Yes, this is a Really Special Thing :-)
While delivering coffee to Lola's recently he chatted with a patron who was drinking the Deep Forest and told him, "Man, this is really good!" And then our employee behind the counter said, "Yeah, this is what I am drinking now, too." The Deep Forest needs to brewed multiple times every day in our presspots to meet the demand. Seems obvious the time has come to put this one up for sale on the website, so here it is!
We call this Deep Forest Blend because our favorite dark roast level is one step under a French Roast. At 467° it is well under the roast levels of traditional dark West Coast coffees, which we feel are burnt... but darker than the "nouveau dark" levels in which they call a roast that is barely over medium a dark roast. It is what we here at Len's have been calling a Deep Forest Roast for around 15 years. This blend is an Arabica base of Brazil Cerrado and Honduras Anaerobic Arabica, with just 20% blended Robustas for back palate satisfaction.
If you are a Dark Roast fan, jump right in, the water's fine! Notes of fruit, caramel, butter and a chocolatey finish.
1 lb (16 ounces), please choose drip grind or whole bean.
