Trung Nguyen Creative 4 (Premium Culi) Coffee - 3 Pack

Blend of culi (single, unsplit) beans of Arabica, Robusta, Chari and Catimor. Strong, very full-bodied and intense, with layers of complexity. One of the most popular coffees served by our café and coffee shop customers since 2005. 340g (12 oz) ground coffee suitable for Press, drip machine or Phin filter brewing.

This is a 3-Pack of 12 oz bags (340 grams) for ground coffee. (We are currently out of the whole bean option, sorry). Total weight is ~2.25 lb of ground coffee.

We are selling the Creative line of coffees in 3-Packs now, to be more economical for us and our customers.

More Information

This coffee is a gourmet's dream blend. Trung Nguyen puts together carefully selected Culi (unsplit "peaberries") from 4 different varieties. A lot of care and balancing goes into this coffee, and Trung Nguyen is rewarded by many loyal Vietnamese drinkers who proclaim this their favorite brew.

There are a lot of complex flavors in this coffee, and it also runs a little to the bitter and acid tastes, which is a plus for people who want a full-bodied coffee experience. If you like strong coffee, double up on this one and go for the gusto! In winter this is a comfort coffee, with its rich, appetite-awakening flavor and aroma.

Many restaurants and coffeeshops serve this coffee as their one, representative "Vietnamese coffee" in the Phin single-serving filter. Sometimes fans of this coffee will double it up in the small filter and drink it espresso-strength.

Culi-based coffees have an edge to them that is lost if stored in the fridge as iced coffee concentrate. Drink it fresh... and brew it right onto ice if you can. It's a sipping coffee when made strong, delightful in every taste.

At one level tablespoon per cup you get a mild but broad taste. At 1.5 or 2 tablespoons you get that intense flavor it is famous for.

As with most Vietnamese coffees, if you can control the temperature you can get different effects. At 185° brewing you accent all the extra flavor tones and the chocolate/vanilla hints. At 205° you lose those flavor tones and get a more American-style coffee.

Allergy note: The special butter-roast process that gives Trung Nguyen coffees their unique flavor and aroma is a proprietary recipe and we cannot promise that it is safe for individuals with severe allergies to any vegetable oil, such as soy

We also can't promise it's vegan, but it is certified Halal and safe for lacto-vegetarians.

  1. 5 Star Review My favorite coffee!

The first time I had Vietnamese coffee I was hooked! I brought some home from Vietnam and was so happy when I found it at Len’s because my local Asian grocery stores only carry the basic Trung Nguyen coffee. That’s still great, but Creative #4 is my fave. It’s super smooth with a rich flavor and amazing smell! I make every coffee drinker I know try it!

  2. 5 Star Review THE most amazing coffee(s)

Ever since coming back from Viet Nam and having loved the coffee there, we tracked down Len's Coffee. We can drink nothing else anymore no matter where it's from or how high the alleged quality. The #4 is the BEST with its chocolatey tones-so amazing.

  3. 5 Star Review This coffee is the BEST!

This spring I traveled to Vietnam and brought back several bags of this for my husband and he is now hooked on it. While I was there we were told the lore that when the Vietnamese systematically tore up the opium fields they replaced it with robusta coffee plants and there is a slight residual effect.

  4. 5 Star Review Complex, rich flavor

This coffee is delicious. I taste notes of chocolate. It is not as bitter or sour as many coffees.

  5. 5 Star Review A glass of coffee can make your day

I've been drinking Trung Nguyen (Creative 4) for many years. I've tried many coffees but nothing like this one. It's full of body, not too bitter. It's mellow.

  6. 5 Star Review Coffee Craze!

Great stuff that we initially found in Vietnam. Had to get more.

  7. 5 Star Review Strong and Flavorful

Trung Nguyen #4 has been my favorite coffee since we were in Vietnam last year when we had it in the Trung Nguyen coffee shops in HCMC. Also bought it for home use there.
Best brewed in a Vietnamese Traditional "Phin" Coffee Brewer.
Glad we could find a source in the U.S. Please keep stocking it.

  8. 5 Star Review This is the best of the Creative's!

This review applies to my preference of traditional Vietnemese iced coffee with sweetened condensed milk. I've tried them all and I prefer #4 the best. It has a rich, complex and chocolatey taste if made right. How do you make it right? Follow the instructions on the label because that's how they make it in the TN cafe's in Vietnam. 20-25g coffee with 65-70g water. Make sure to use good water for your brew & ice cubes - I use Arrowhead spring water which has a neutral pH. Brew time should be around 7 min with near boiling water. When I was in Vietnam I asked TN customers and most said go with #4. My second choice would be the Gourmet blend.

  9. 5 Star Review Deep flavor, no bitterness.

Trung Nguyen #4 has been my favorite for several years. It remains faithful to the first time I tried it and has an almost "flavored" [chocolate] taste without chemicals. Personal preference is for whole beans which gives the flexibility of changing the grind size for different coffee brewing methods.

The Araku Valley of India

India's coffee tradition goes back 400 years or more, when a variety called Kent was first established in the Southern Hills. Arabicas predominated until the blight of 1870, when growers needed to hybridize to resistant varieties. The resultant strains had genes from Liberica and other unique, resistant species.
