Vietnamese Blue Son La Bourbon Arabica
Our newest Vietnamese origin is from Son La, in the NW region of Vietnam. Famous for its verdant rolling tea plantations, Son La also has many coffee plantations at the altitude of 3000', a rarity in Vietnam, where the Central Plateau seldom reaches altitudes beyond 2000'.
This is an amazing Bourbon Arabica - Chocolatey, buttery, lower in acid than other Arabicas, and dubbed "Blue Son La" because of its dense, darker color in green beans than other Arabicas grown in Vietnam. We purchased one sack earlier in the year and loved it so much we have purchased it again and will carry it as long as supplies are available.
Bourbon Arabica beans are characterized by a roundness and mellowness of flavor that modern Arabicas often lack, coupled with a balanced acidity and smooth mouthfeel. Bourbon is unique in that it matures/ripens slowly after roasting and maintains a wonderful profile that seems to age well over weeks. Sharing genes with ancestral Robustas, this is an Arabica that truly pleases all palates.
8 oz bag roasted coffee, Medium Roast. Please select ground or whole bean.

"mellowness of flavor" is spot-on
It is in fact a mellow tasting coffee. This is like switching from a Shiraz to a Merlot. It's a nice change from African and South American coffees I've been drinking. I'm convinced that if you go looking for places that sell coffees like these it can be as complex and entertaining as a wine tasting.

A great medium roast
This was the first coffee I tried from Len’s and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I chose it based on the characteristics in the product description which turned out to be spot-on. I plan on including Blue Son Ra Bourbon Arabica with every future order.

Access to beloved VN coffee
I did work in VN for the last 2.5yrs so got hooked on VN coffee during my time in the country. With current travel restrictions and my work ending in this country I was left without access to good coffee. Tried this company and brand of coffee and was very pleased. Ordered several bags, different varieties and all arrived in a good amount of time, no damage to packaging / product and taste of coffee was good. Nice to have an option to still get VN coffee at home

The Araku Valley of India
India's coffee tradition goes back 400 years or more, when a variety called Kent was first established in the Southern Hills. Arabicas predominated until the blight of 1870, when growers needed to hybridize to resistant varieties. The resultant strains had genes from Liberica and other unique, resistant species.
